North Idaho College will host a variety of softball hitting and pitching clinics in January.

The North Idaho College softball coaching staff and players will host a variety of clinics in January.

Three separate three-session hitting clinics will be offered at the NIC Hitting Facility, located at Walnut and Seventh streets in Coeur d’Alene. The in-depth hitting clinics are open to youths ages 8-18 and will be progressive in instruction, building on the previous session’s lessons.

Two one-hour Thursday clinics will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. and from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 6, 13 and 20. Cost for either of these clinics is $40 for all three sessions.

Another more in-depth hitting clinic will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays Jan. 8, 15 and 22 for $75.

The NIC softball coaching staff and players will also host two softball pitching clinics from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9 in NIC’s Christianson Gym. The in-depth pitching clinics are open to youths ages 8 to 18. The clinic will cover pitching mechanics, breaking and off speed pitches, how to identify pitching problems and what it takes mentally to be a great pitcher. Participants must bring their own adult catcher for the clinic. Cost is $60.

Enrollment is limited for all clinics to ensure quality instruction.

Call the NIC Softball Office at (208) 769-7879 to register or download registration forms at http://www.nic.edu/athletics/camps_clinics.asp.
