Sanders County Arts Council of Montana announces that the 9th Annual Montana Baroque Music Festival opens Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 7 pm. This outdoor festival runs 3 days on the beautiful grounds of Quinn's Hot Springs Resort near Paradise, Montana. Acclaimed baroque musicians come together every summer from their usual venues around the U.S., Canada, and England to share their music with our audience and with each other. Tickets are $15 each evening or $36 for the series and can be purchased on-line at www.montanabaroquefestival.org or www.quinnshotsprings.com or Quinn's at 406-826-3150. Local outlets are First Security Banks in Plains and Thompson Falls, Garden Gift and Floral in Plains, Morgenroth Music and Rockin' Rudy's both in Missoula, or you can purchase at the door. Quinn's also offers lodging packages.

This year's theme is “Bach and the Beasts.” This year the ensemble will add some unfamiliar ancient baroque instruments such as viola da gamba, viola d'amore and pardessus to the familiar strings, recorder and baroque guitar they always feature. Monica Huggett, co-founder of the festival and internationally acclaimed violinist and Matthias Maute, recorder virtuoso, will be joined by the other seven talented members of the ensemble for a different program each evening. Visit the website to read about each program and about the artists.
