Lake Pend Oreille book enters second printing
Author signings, speaking engagements scheduled throughout summer
SANDPOINT, IDAHO–Just seven months after its release, the Keokee guidebook “Legendary Lake Pend Oreille” is entering its second printing, and author Jane Fritz is filling her calendar with book signings and speaker engagements throughout the summer.
“After spending so many years writing and editing, it is so gratifying to hear from so many people of all ages that they are really enjoying the book, especially the stories featuring people, culture, history and wildlife,” said Fritz. “Even folks who say they don’t normally read books are reading it, and cover to cover!”
In addition to 13 dates coming up in June and July for book events, Fritz will be preparing for a speaking tour sponsored by Kootenai-Shoshone Area Libraries at library branches and care facilities in the two counties it serves, beginning in August. See the calendar below for a schedule of events planned in June and July.
Called a “bible” for Lake Pend Oreille, the guidebook is rich with sketches about biology and botany, fascinating historical lore, stories about the indigenous Kalispel Indians and modern-day residents, and abundantly illustrated. The 450-page book contains 266 photos, including two photo sections – color plates and black-and-white Ross Hall images – and a foldout lake map.
Included in “Legendary Lake Pend Oreille” are comprehensive guides to all the lake’s public recreation sites; paddle routes; resources and advice for boaters and sailors; and chapters devoted to the lake’s 30-plus hiking trails and its fish and fisheries.
The book includes a special foreword by the late Hazel Hall, an introduction by Francis Cullooyah of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, and selections written by several local writers. To learn more contact publisher Keokee Books at 208-263-3573 or look up www.KeokeeBooks.com.
