Beth Pederson organizes dinner concerts

One of Sandpoint’s favorite local musicians has organized a dinner concert series. Beth Pederson and Di Luna's Restaurant are collaborating on several dinner concerts over the next few months. “People kept nudging me to get back out there again” said Beth “and I wanted to get something going for Karen at Di Luna's”
Pederson, who for years was half of the wildly popular duo Wild Roses with Cinde Borup, has organized about ten concerts with each one being different from the others.
Beth headlined the first performance last Saturday April 20th, with Doug Bond and Caytlin McSherry also on the bill. The evening set the tone for what is to come. The concert was a sellout, with the audience and the musicians having a great time together. Doug sang, played the mandolin and guitar. Caytlin played her fiddle with maturity well past her 16 years.
Each show will bring different performers to the stage. The plan is to have guests play the first set with Beth as emcee; the second set will include Beth alone and in collaboration with the guest(s) of the event.
May 11th is the next concert on the schedule. Pederson’s guest will be Bruce Innes. Innes, from Ketchum, is a friend of Beth’s and had been on the international music scene for years.
He recorded his first album for Dot Records in Los Angeles in the sixties. Since then he has been totally involved in the music industry as a writer, producer, and performer. He has toured all over the world and performed with John Denver, Glenn Campbell, The Carpenters, Mickey Gilley, Ian Tyson, James Cotton Blues Band, Paul Butterfield, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, and many others.
In the seventies his group, The Original Caste, received gold records for “One Tin Soldier” and “Mr. Monday” (two million records sold in Japan). Bruce has produced records for Dot Records, Capitol Records, CBS Sony-Japan, and has appeared on numerous television specials in the United States, Canada, and the Orient. He also hosted his own network television show in Canada.
As a songwriter, The Original Caste, Mickey Gilley, Lighthouse, Ray Stevens, and performers in Australia, Canada, United States, and England have all recorded his songs.
In concert Bruce sings and performs on acoustic guitar and piano.
Other concerts at the new venue will include The Rex James Trio, Tony and Dave Powel, Avery Anderson, Charley Packard, Tom Newbill, Joan Lasson, Gordon Anderson and Kurt Kondrako.
The doors open at 5:30 and dinner is served from 6 to 7. This gives diners a chance to finish eating before the concerts begin at 8. In order to not interrupt the show, drinks (beer and wine) and deserts will be served only during the breaks.
The room seats about 120 and the sound is good throughout. People may come for just the concert but preference seating will be for those eating dinner.
The cost of each concert is $8 plus dinner. To make a reservation call Di Luna's at 208-263-0846. Di Luna's is located on Cedar Street in downtown Sandpoint.
