The opera is the first of a series of performing arts events presented by the Pend Oreille Arts Council.

The Western Opera Theater will perform Puccini’s La Bohe’me at the Panida Theater in Sandpoint on Friday, September 27th at 8:00 pm.

La Bohe’me is one of the most beloved operas of all time. Audiences will be swept away by the story – at times romantic, comic and tragic – of young lovers who boldly confront despair and love with the passion of youth. The revolutionary spirit of this opera, written in 1896, is transported to 1960s Paris in director Josemaria Condemi’s new production of this timeless classic.

The opera is presented by the Western Opera Theater, the professional touring company of the San Francisco Opera. The Sandpoint performance is part of a 27-city, 15-state tour that will take them from Oregon to Florida.

Tickets are now on sale at the POAC Office, 263-6139, in the PowerHouse; at Eve’s Leaves; at the Lyman Gallery; and at the Chair Factory in Clark Fork.

Tickets for POAC members are $18.00 and $26.00 for non-members. Students under 18 are $12.00.
