The 2nd annual event provides fun for the entire family with free health screenings, mini massages, live demonstrations, Schweitzer's climbing tower, and more.

The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s health and wellness committee in partnership with Bonner General Hospital and Association of Bonner County Employees announce the 2nd annual Community Health and Wellness Fair will be held on Saturday, September 19th at the Bonner County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is an excellent opportunity to learn about the variety of health and wellness options available in northern Idaho and at no cost, say event organizers.  Obtain free health screenings, enjoy product and service samplings, watch live demonstrations, and gain tips at seminars and expert advice on your health from area practitioners, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other businesses offering health-related products and services.  Participating exhibitors represent a full spectrum of the health industry including but not limited to traditional and alternative medicine, cancer services, recreation and fitness, insurance, skin care, mental wellness, financial wellness, pharmaceuticals, and dental care.

“Individuals can learn about the multitude of health options available in our area, and all ages will appreciate our family-friendly activities,” says Jodie Corless of Pend Oreille Insurance & Financial Services and chairman of the health and wellness committee.  Climbing on Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s climbing tower, financial wellness seminars provided by STCU to teach kids (and adults) about managing money, Pend Oreille Surgery Center surgical center staff and physicians available to answer questions about sports health, and other services and activities for all ages are in the works.  Additionally, little tykes will enjoy climbing aboard the fire truck, ambulance, and marine patrol boat and meeting local firemen, police officers and emergency medical personnel.

Again this year, free infant car seat checks will be available through the City of Sandpoint Fire Department, Idaho State Police will provide beer goggle demonstrations, and Bonner General Hospital will have a mock operating room, blood sugar screenings, and drawing for a free digital mammogram.  Free testing from Kaniksu Health Services, mini acupuncture treatments from Green Mountain Medicine, sunscreen from Community Cancer Services and Mary Kay Cosmetics, samples of GoChi and Taislim, art therapy demonstrations from Center for Expressive Arts Therapy, and mini massages from Northwest Wellness Center and Peggy Richards Dreams in Beauty Massage Therapy are a few of many free service offerings for those who stop by the fair.

The event is supported by partnering sponsors Association of Bonner County Employees and Bonner General Hospital and major sponsors AAging Better In-Home Care, STCU, Pend Oreille Health Care, North Idaho Spine Clinic, Bonner County Daily Bee, and K102.
